Numerology 101

Numerology is essentially the study of numbers, & their meanings. Using them work with the universe, to make predictions, to better understand yourself & others, so much more. Just memorizing the definitions of numbers, & their vibration is helpful- however there is so much more to apply. When working with these systems you can also use numerology to better understand a person, by doing the numerology of their name. You can also use this to better understand a place, an event in time, a business etc. I'll be sharing with you all how to do it, & some books that can help. While what I'm sharing will be informative- there is a reason there are books dedicated to this. One, or two posts even simply cannot sum it all up.


Numerology has a couple different systems that are used, three that are most commonly used are: Chaldean, Pythagorean, Kabbalah. The two I work with are Chaldean & Pythagorean. I'll be explaining the use of both pythagorean & Chaldean. Both can be used for someones name, a place, a business name etc.


Chaldean Alphabet Table:

Pythagorean Alphabet Table: (Trick for this is write out 1-9, then write the letters of the alphabet in order & you'll make a table like below).

Regardless of which system you use, you add & reduce. The example below is the set up for both systems, but with the Chaldean the numbers would be different.
Example: Mary (Using Pythagorean alphabet)
M A R Y
4+1+9+7 =21= 2+1= 3


Example: Mary (Using Chaldean alphabet)
M A R Y
4+1+2+1 = 8


Now, you only reduce if you have a double number. The other thing, you generally do the whole name. First, & last. You can also do it separate, because this is how you get better understanding of certain parts.


Following the Pythagorean system:
First Name: Key number = Key traits
Last Name: Hereditary = Hereditary traits
Cornerstone: First letter of your name, this is the foundation, life values, & things of that nature on the material/physical plane.
Instinctual Desires/ID Number: This is found in the first vowel of your first name, A, E, I, O, U- Y if no other vowels are present. This represents what instinctually motivates you in life.


Following the Chaldean system:
Key Numbers: Your singular number, provides insight into your traits & life
Compound Numbers: In the Chaldean numerology, compound numbers are included & seen as informative/important in their own right. Providing further insight, & where you may have conflict. This is where Master numbers, 11, 22, 33, come into play.


If you are doing the numerology of your birthday for example, & not a name you can put the table aside, & just add, reduce all the numbers as so:
Example:
1/11/1991
1+1+1+1+9+9+1 = 23 =2+3 = 5


Life Path Number: Your birthday number (Month, date, year added as seen above), this points to immediate & important aspects of life
Destiny Number: This number points to the grade you're in, in the school of life during each life cycle. This comes from your name.


Part of why the life path number is also special, is it cannot be changed. You can change your destiny number in some ways, by changing your name to a more favorable number. This is why some people will wait until their child is born, to do the numerology & choose a name that vibrates more harmoniously.


Lucky Numbers: Your personal lucky numbers are your birthday number, & your zodiac number. Your zodiac number is the number that your Sun sign is ruled by.
You can do the numerology of the day to better understand what the day may bring, & if it is a favorable for you. Based on your numerology.
This is some of the basics of numerology, & how to/it's uses. In the second part I will be sharing some of the definitions of the numbers. Excluding compound numbers. Below are some books that go more in depth, & help you to better understand different ways to use it- such as the table of traits (which helps you better understand more about a person, & even yourself- by gaining more insight to their traits) etc. These are books that are great for beginners, & while there are many others out there. I have found these to be most helpful for beginners. You do not need them all, but I suggest "Star Signs", & "Numbers & You", if you can only get 2.

Lloyd's Numerology & You Basic Workbook - Lloyd StrayhornChaldean & Pythagorean numerology both have definitions of numbers, but Pythagorean doesn't focus on compound numbers the way Chaldean does. Aside from Master Numbers (11, 22, 33) compound numbers are reduced to a singular number in Pythagorean. Below are some of the definitions, I have not included the compound numbers. Please refer to Star Signs by Linda Goodman for those. They're quite extensive, as are the definitions for singular numbers in that book. Giving you even more insight to these numbers. The definitions I'm giving are how these numbers are defined when being used to understand/describe a person. This is to help you become more familiar with the way you can work with numbers & reading others, or yourself. The books I've shared in the previous post are helpful in expanding past that. As I've mentioned before the interpretation of number meanings, is similar to Tarot or Oracle, where we do develop our interpretation of the card- in alignment with it's by the book definition. I have also included some of the occupations that are associated with these singular numbers. When it comes to these describing people, it doesn't mean all the traits will apply (positive & negative) at once, these are possible traits that can effect us through out our lifetime.

Positive: Ambitions, driven, creative, commanding, bold, do-er, aggressive (balanced), inventive, leader, starter, original, determined, self-driven/not easily influenced, always #1, always a winner, & associated with "beginning".
Negative: Bossy, bully, aloof, arrogant, dominating, cold, egotistical, tyrannical, impatient, no direction, weak, fearful, dependent.
Occupations: Architect, business, director, entrepreneur, doctor, lawyer, pioneer, politico or president, scientist, manager, writer, organizer, officer.

Positive: Agreeable, adaptable, considerate, charming, diplomatic, harmonious/friendly, loving, modest, peaceful, receptive, tactic/persuasive, understanding.
Negative: Apathetic, deceptive, impressionable, easily-led/influenced, lack of ambition, moody, liar, petty, self conscious, clepto - collects items & people, feelings etc, & holds onto them.
Occupations: Chef, accountant, civil servant, diplomat, mediator, editor, engineer, librarian, poet, psychic, musician, file clerk.

Positive: Ambitious, articulate, confident, cheerful, expressive, emotionally free, imaginative, popular/sociable, talented, optimistic.
Negative: Cruel, boastful, can become deeply depressed, indulgent/extravagant (overly), jealous/gossiper, worrier, lack of discipline, superficial/vain, all talk (loves to talk it up, but not actually do it).
Occupations: Creatives from artists, to beauticians, cartoonists, actors, dancers, jewelers & musicians etc, socialites, also day care operator or night club owner.

Positive: Calm, disciplined, accurate/factual, honest, loyal, practical, solid person, orderly/organized, efficient.
Negative: brutal/critical, pessimistic, dogmatic, revengeful, violent, will forgive but never forget, unpredictable, fearful, slow to make moves.
Occupations: They are sometimes considered the odd person out, I find that they can & do often make a place for themselves in the world.

Positive: Adaptable/changeable, adventurer/freedom loving, clever, loves movement, magnetic, enthusiastic, daring, multifaceted/multidimensional.
Negative: Indifferent, careless, irritable, nervous, over indulges in substances & sex, wasteful, vulgar.
Occupation: Anything with travel or exploring, whether that's the pilot or the passenger (literally), sales, science, writer, spoken word, & public speaking, investor.

Positive: Love & beauty (loves to love, loves all things beautiful, is considered the number of love), guardian/protective, kind, friend & family oriented, responsible, magnetic.
Negative: Doubtful & slow to make decisions, domestic tyrant (tyrannical towards home, friends, & fam), irresponsible, self righteous, wants to be worshipped/only object of affection.
Occupation: Social worker, teacher, fashion designer, actor, creative etc, nurse, real estate, waiter.

Positive: Analytical/Perfectionist, mystic, faithful, inner-knowing/intuitive, loves metaphysics, religious, researcher, FULL of insight & wisdom.
Negative: Worriers/cynical, fault finder/nit picker, suppresses emotions, malicious, cold, lonely, sarcastic.
Occupation: Astrologist/psychic/mystic/healer/minister, researcher, physicist, authority figure, doctor, actor.

Positive: Determined/focused with a high ability to succeed, magnetic, thinker, thorough - eye for detail, powerful, money-maker, good discernment, organized, perseveres.
Negative: Domineering, evil, greedy (as a result of fearing loss), oppressive, schemer, oppressive, cruel/bully, unjust actions/being involved in injustice, power hungry/
Occupation: Authority figure in general, top dog when it comes to money (financial expert, CEO, banker, executive, big business), professor, supervisor, politician, lawyer.

Positive: Artistic, humanitarian, inspiration/motivational, strong willed, universal/global outlook (high), brotherly/sisterly.
Negative: Argumentative/confrontational, immoral (in excess), impressionable, narrow minded, resentful/bitter, unrealistic dreamer, lack of focus, loses hearing easily, quick temper/to anger.
Occupation: Artist or creative, astrologer, spiritualists, judge/military/police/firefighter - does well in a uniform, world leaders.


As I said these are a brief summary & look into what they mean in relation to people. This different systems of numerology are quite layered in the meanings of the numbers in relation to certain things, from people to healing work, gambling & more. This is an intro to better understand it so that as you continue learning with the books suggested, you will already be familiar. Which will make it easier to take in.
